Summer Camp Support Intern – Ch’town

THE OPPORTUNITY:
STEAM PEI is looking for Summer Camp Support Interns to join our STEAM Team and ensure the safe and engaging delivery of summer camps across various locations on PEI.
This position involves:
- Preparing and organizing materials for summer camps.
- Daily cleaning of equipment and ensuring compliance with public health requirements.
- Substituting as a camp facilitator when required.
- From June 23 to August 30, this is a full-time position averaging 30 hours per week.
Expected hours:
- Monday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Tuesday to Thursday: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
- Friday: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Compensation:
- $16.00 – $17.00/hour for high school students.
- $17.00/hour for returning students.
You’ll be mentored by a team of STEAM professionals and work alongside post-secondary students. This
role can lead to future positions as Summer Camp Facilitators and Camp Leaders!
THE SKILLS:
- Experience working with kids is valuable—you’ll help them feel welcome and comfortable.
- A clean criminal record check is required.
- WHMIS training is necessary, but we can help you obtain it.
- Excellent organizational skills are critical as you assist in preparing materials for activities.
- Interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and/or math) is ideal.
Bonus Skills:
- Willingness to learn and try new things.
- Experience with BIPOC and/or gender-diverse students is a plus.

STEAM PEI is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring young Islanders to explore learning and careers in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). Our mission is to foster curiosity and confidence through hands-on, experiential learning opportunities.
We are excited to announce that we will soon be located at 141 Mount Edward Road, Charlottetown, PE C1A 5T1, where we will continue to deliver impactful programs.
Our efforts focus on reaching youth across PEI, with particular emphasis on under-represented groups, including girls, Indigenous youth, and youth from low socio-economic backgrounds.
