Reporting to the Executive Director, the Membership & Marketing Coordinator is the primary administrative support and first-line engagement for the public and Chamber members. The position requires the incumbent to be self-motivated and able to work in a demanding fast-paced environment with a wide range of people.

The ideal candidate is resourceful and motivated with a strong working knowledge of Summerside’s business community, experience working for non-profit organizations and is an excellent communicator who thrives under pressure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead membership recruitment and retention efforts, including visits, presentations, and developing compelling marketing and collateral materials.
  • Provide support to the Member Committee, stay informed on relevant issues, and execute strategies to engage and retain members effectively.
  • Manage and promote the Chamber Perks app by updating member listings, driving adoption, creating marketing materials, and suggesting tailored offers to enhance engagement.
  • Manage and grow social media presence across Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, including daily posts, engagement, and analytics.
  • Assist in organizing the Chamber’s keystone events, including the Business Awards Gala, Annual Golf Tournament, Breakfast with the Premier, and the new Marketing Summit.
  • Promote chamber members’ businesses and ensure fulfillment of sponsorship commitments through strategic social media marketing.
  • Liaise with Chamber staff, volunteers, and key stakeholders on various events and programs and committees.
  • Participate in community/business activities/events and groups.
  • Work in a team environment to provide exceptional service to all members.
  • Undertake other activities and programs as directed by the Executive Director

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience in membership-based organizations, non-profits, or community engagement roles is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Summerside’s business community and local economic environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage events, social media, and membership initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in social media management, including content creation, scheduling, and performance analytics (experience with platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram is essential).
  • Marketing and creative skills to design promotional materials and support member businesses.
  • Event planning experience, including logistics coordination and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, social media platforms, Canva and other marketing or member management tools.
