TERM: Starting ASAP in June, through August 15, with possibility to extend into the fall
HOURS & PAY: 25-35 hours per week, depending on candidate’s availability; $22-25/hour, commensurate with experience

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Front of House & Box Office Manager works closely and collaboratively with River Clyde Arts’ Artistic Director and Associate Producers to ensure the successful delivery of the 2025 River Clyde Pageant (July 24-27 and July 31- August 3) presented in New Glasgow, PEI.

The FOH Manager will play a crucial role in creating an exceptional experience for our patrons and volunteers. They will oversee all aspects of front of house operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of our online ticketing system and on-site box office, merchandise and concessions stand, and the overall experience of attendees as they arrive on site. They will be the key liaison for our volunteer coordinator. The FOH Manager is highly organized and self-motivated, with strong communication and leadership skills, and excellent customer service abilities. They should have a passion for engaging with diverse communities, and are able to solve problems quickly and creatively. They must be comfortable working outdoors, in a fast-paced environment, as part of a team. The successful candidate will have considerable autonomy within the role, while receiving mentorship and support from RCA staff.

The candidate must be available to work on site in New Glasgow July 21 through August 8.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Box Office Management

  • Manage all ticketing operations, including selling tickets, processing payments, audience & guest lists, accepting donations, and resolving any ticketing issues or inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records of ticket sales, attendance, and revenue.
  • Coordinate complimentary tickets for community partners, donors, sponsors, and stakeholders
  • Act as the primary point of contact for patrons, addressing any concerns or feedback in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Complete financial reconciliation for each night and for the full run of the shows.

Front of House Operations

  • Supervise and train box office volunteers on site before the shows
  • Develop and maintain protocols for efficient, professional and welcoming customer service
  • Oversee the setup and tear down of box office, merch and bar tables, ensuring areas are tidy, welcoming, and accessible to patrons and volunteers
  • Develop & implement weather plans for box office & merch table
  • Coordinate with production team to ensure smooth transitions pre and post event

Producing

  • Attend weekly production meetings on Tuesdays from 3-5pm in July
  • Arrange for the purchase, rental, and/or procurement of all requisite equipment, materials and supplies for box office & front of house
  • Serve as liaison to the RCP Volunteer Coordinator for associated volunteers (ushers, box office, parking)
  • Take part in the post-production tear down, clean up, and debrief for RCP, August 5-8

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interest in the arts and community engagement;
  • Previous experience in non-profits (arts or another sector), hospitality, or customer service is an asset but not essential
  • Excellent organizational skills: creating and managing work timelines, maintaining schedules, maintaining file systems, proofreading copy with efficiency and attention to detail, communicating complex information efficiently and effectively;
  • Experience managing small teams, and supporting staff and/or volunteers;
  • Strong collaborative spirit and dedication to co-creating a positive work environment for everyone;
  • Experience in financial reconciliation, with an understanding of basic accounting procedures;
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Comfortable working with a variety of people including funding representatives, artists, volunteers, board members, current and potential donors, small business owners and community groups with a commitment to building respectful relationships;
  • Flexible, creative problem solver who can plan ahead, anticipate potential problems/outcomes, and adapt to changing circumstances with ease;
  • Drivers license and access to a vehicle;
  • Must be comfortable using: Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Google Products: Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Gmail primarily.
