Abilities @ Work is an inclusive employment program with ResourceAbilities Inc that supports job seekers with disabilities in securing meaningful and sustainable employment and is currently hiring for an Employment Development Coach. The program offers personalized coaching, skills development, and pre-employment training, while also engaging employers through education, on-site support, and wage subsidies. By removing barriers and promoting workplace inclusion, Abilities @ Work helps build more accessible and equitable employment opportunities across the province.
The Employment Development Coach will work under the supervision of the Abilities @ Work Program Manager, providing direct support to job seekers with disabilities. This includes assistance with onboarding processes and ongoing follow-up to ensure successful employment outcomes. The role also involves supporting the Program Manager with program-related processes and maintaining organized, accurate documentation.
In the capacity of a Job Coach, the individual will be responsible for developing comprehensive employment plans tailored to each client’s unique needs. Regular communication with clients is essential to understand their goals, help them identify and address personal barriers, and set realistic objectives. The Employment Development Coach will assess clients’ strengths and guide them in leveraging these abilities effectively in the workplace. Support includes instruction on how to perform job tasks independently, developing motivation and skill-building strategies, and providing advice on workplace accommodations. Monitoring client progress and maintaining accurate records and reports is a critical part of this role.
As a Job Developer, the successful candidate will engage in proactive outreach, including cold calling and developing relationships with local employers to create employment opportunities for program participants. The role involves establishing and maintaining a range of job placements, including temporary, part-time, full-time, and seasonal positions. The Employment Development Coach will coordinate recruitment activities, visit employer sites, and offer personalized support to both clients and employers. Maintaining an up-to-date Employer Database is also required.
In the Facilitator role, the Employment Development Coach will design and deliver engaging and accessible pre-employment training sessions, both virtually and in person. The training should foster an inclusive and safe environment and may include supplemental workshops or modules as needed. Activities should encourage participation, from group discussions to independent reflection exercises. Additionally, the Coach will provide disability and employment-related training to employers and lead workshops that promote inclusion and accessibility in the workplace. This position also involves organizing job fairs and engaging with clients and employers through approved social media channels.
This is a term position ending on March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on funding and program needs.
