Casual Certified Lifeguard (11-weeks)
The City of Charlottetown is seeking dedicated and responsible individuals to join our Parks and Recreation team as Certified Lifeguards. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons at the Victoria Park and/or Simmons Pools. They will actively supervise, prevent accidents, and respond to emergencies to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and supervise swimming activities to ensure the safety of all patrons.
- Enforce pool rules and regulations consistently and professionally.
- Maintain good public relations with members of the public and fellow employees.
- Provide first aid and emergency care as needed, including performing CPR and rescue techniques.
- Inspect equipment and facilities regularly to ensure safety standards are met.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, rescues, and daily reports and notify the Lifeguard Supervisor of any incidents or emergencies that occur.
- Assist with swimming lessons, aquatic programs, and special events as required.
- Participate in regular training sessions and maintain certifications.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of lifeguard stations, pool deck and changing rooms.
- Work as part of a team atmosphere and lead by example.
- Follow the Lifeguard Responsibilities & Procedures established by the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have a current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Pool Certification.
- Strong leadership and communication skills are required.
- Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C)
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Previous working experience as a lifeguard is an asset. - Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification is an asset.
- Must be capable of working flexible hours, including daytime, evenings, and weekends.
Salary: $18.90 per hour
