Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Gardener focuses on maintaining the health and appearance of municipal greenspaces by planting, watering, pruning, weeding, and fertilizing various plants, trees, and shrubs. Responsibilities include mowing lawns, clearing walkways of debris, and using landscaping equipment such as mowers and trimmers while following safety regulations. The position also involves monitoring plant health, managing pests with eco-friendly methods, installing and repairing irrigation systems, and assisting with landscape design. Additionally, it requires maintaining gardening tools, ensuring public areas remain clean and visually appealing, providing plant care information to the public, and adhering to environmental best practices. The role may also involve training staff and performing general public works duties as needed.
