BGC Prince County is seeking a highly organized and strategic Fund Development Officer with a strong focus on grant writing to support the financial sustainability and growth of our programs. This position is ideal for a strong writer who thrives on research, storytelling, and aligning organizational needs with funder priorities.
While grant writing is the core function, this role also supports sponsorship development and fundraising strategy. The successful candidate will play a key part in securing funding through well-researched, high-quality proposals and maintaining effective systems for tracking funding applications, deadlines, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities Grant Writing & Proposal Development
- Lead the development of compelling, customized grant proposals, letters of intent, and funding applications.
- Conduct thorough research on prospective funders, ensuring a strong understanding of their missions, eligibility criteria, and funding priorities.
- Collaborate with program staff to gather relevant data, success stories, and budget details to build strong, outcomes-focused proposals.
- Develop detailed, accurate budgets in coordination with the Finance team.
- Track all deadlines and maintain a calendar of application, reporting, and renewal dates.
- Funding Strategy & Sponsorship Development
- Identify and pursue a broad range of funding opportunities, including government grants, foundations, corporate sponsorships, and private donors.
- Create pitch materials, sponsorship packages, and supporting documents for potential funders and partners.
- Assist with donor recognition and stewardship, ensuring consistent communication and appropriate follow-up.
Funding Management & Reporting
- Maintain organized records of proposals, contacts, deadlines, and awarded funds.
- Develop internal handoff documentation to ensure smooth transitions from funding approval to program implementation.
- Assist in writing interim and final reports for funders, highlighting key outcomes, use of funds, and program impact.
- Ensure compliance with all funder requirements and reporting standards.
Internal Collaboration & Administration
- Participate in strategic meetings with Program and Finance teams to align funding needs with operational goals.
- Ensure all funding activities align with BGC Prince County’s mission and BGC Canada standards.
- Support ongoing improvements to internal grant tracking and reporting systems.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in grant writing and fund development in the nonprofit or public sector.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong research and analytical abilities to assess funding opportunities and tailor proposals accordingly.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and funder communications simultaneously.
- Collaborative mindset and the ability to work across departments to gather needed information.
- High level of initiative, reliability, and discretion.
- Flexible work hours may be required on occasion.
