Equipment Operator

Vanco Farms Ltd. specializes in growing specialty potatoes, organic potatoes, premium cut tulips, and tulip bulbs. The farm is family owned and operated, and we proudly grow our products in the signature red soil of Prince Edward Island. 

Position Summary
The Equipment Operator will operate a range of farm machinery to assist with soil preparation, crop planting, harvesting, and processing.

Responsibilities 
Operate and tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines, and irrigation equipment.
Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions.
Manipulate controls to set, activate and adjust mechanisms on machinery.
Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools.
Operate towed machines such as seed drills or manure spreaders to plan, fertilize, dust and spray crops.
Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery (applicator license may be required)
Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 
Class 3 license is strongly preferred
Ability to operate agricultural equipment and machinery
Use of hand and power tools
Use vehicle repair tools and safety equipment
Lifting, moving and fitting of heavy objects
Effective communication skills with Supervisors and Co-workers

Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment

Report any concerns immediately to supervisors
